(Kaijin) Creating a monster
Another 3 more years left to complete this long project. A project yet to be unnamed, but has already being finance and undergone a few changes. It is basicly to construct a superstrat, much like the Frankenstrat, and heavily inspired by the guitars in Alumina.
The Frankenstrat by Eddie Van Halen
Astheticly, it would not look as extravagant and eye popping as the Frankenstrat, and I will try to retain the classic look. Lets just say.. sunbursts are my favorites.
Edit: Kinda shocking to see that the guitars in Alumina are just props.
Due to financial problems and stuff, I need to take it slow. Besides, I got other stuff to attend to and priorities, and already I have 3.
Let’s recap.
On the month of July 2009, I have:
Body (Check) – 2 Tone Sunburst Eric Johnson Body. Still prefers a 3 Tone though, searching for luthier that can fix this up for me
Pickups (Check) – A sudden out burst of winning stuff from eBay is a strong point and my greatest financial weakness. Well, who can complain getting a CS 69 pickup on a Sunday Morning at 4 a.m
Guess thats already 2/3 of the finish product, except for minor details like tremolo bar, springs and stuff.
Well the last main piece remaining is the neck.
I am thinking of getting a Warmoth compound neck with Wizard back, but its going to cost me a fortune getting it straight from the factory in the US.

A few options though linger in my head, distracting me while I sleep:
1. Ebony/Brazillian rosewood fretboard with no markers and white bindings. Inspired heavily by the modern ones like Borland’s CV820WB, and Buckethead’s LP Custom, it might not fit the strat body.
2. Birdeyes maple with black markings. Inspired by EVH.
But one thing for sure, this ‘monster’ is going to get a reverse head. Yep, twisted, as it seem, and a tribute to Jimi.
Pickguard? Clear pickguards to reveal the scratched body within. Talk about twisted.
Trem bars? Black to compliment the black pup covers.
The challenge is to relic the body, showing the inner wood around the pups.
Well, like my studies, this unnamed project still have a long way to go.
We’ll see what ‘monster’ will emerge in 3 years.
