B.A.V.I
Introduction
Fated to become an engineering student, this project was solely meant to continue his interest in design.
Although without any proper education in this domain, K 敬 wishes to continue what he feels right, hoping that this project can make him gain more experience on designing, aside the technical stuff learned in engineering courses.
What Is BAVI?
Origin:
BAVI is a concept. A design concept by K himself, mainly based on street wear, urban style, and an unorthodox way of turning a traditional well accepted design into an original and revolutionary product. That is basicly what BAVI is based on.
How it started?
The idea was initially started – to design tees for masses.
Initially it was a project to educate the Peninsule Malaysian that ‘East Malaysian are not dumb,we doesn’t live in poverty, nor live on trees’ and to spread love as a Mirian.
Thus a few unfinished project was made.
- The I <3 Miri tees
With a Seahorse heart concept being designed. - IM.MI.RI tees

Evolution
But it evolved into a much more complex need, far more than the regional rivalry initially sparked.
In 2007-2008, a few other projects was proposed and planned, mainly on the ‘rEvolution’-idea on stuff.
A few concepts were taken to the drawing board and only one saw light.
- The Hijab/Tudung Hoodie
for Muslim girls who wants to rock out, and design for the teens, as part of the urban street wear idea by BAVI. - The Two-Tone Slim Cut Untraditional Baju Melayu
Harrasing the concept of ‘tradional’. This was the first BAVI project to be completed, but with flaws. The concept sparked mixed reviews and it shows the current Malaysians wants to keep things ‘traditionally’ unchanged.
Winter 2008
Another concept portfolio was unveiled with the theme ‘From Japan To Outerspace’ as the main winter project in 2008. The main idea of combining traditional Malaysian costume with modern touch remains, and the influence ranges from Japanese Yukata, marching band uniforms to spaceship platoon officers.
Steady progress was shown during the process and the masses shows that they are willing to accept unorthodox design if they are exposed to it gradually.
Future Projects
Currently on a hiatus as most of these projects are summer projects.
Influences:
Large influence came from the success of A Bathing Ape in the early 2000, the prominent status of Louis Vuitton and Pininfarina’s elegence.
